What are semi-permanent eyelash extensions?
They are individual extensions made of a Faux mink synthetic material to look and feel like natural eyelashes. They are thicker at the base and thinner at the tip with a slight curl. They are adhered one by one to a natural lash with a medical grade adhesive. They will provide you with the appearance of a darker, more voluptuous lash-line.

How long do semi-permanent eyelash extensions last?
Each semi-permanent eyelash will shed when your natural eyelash sheds. Our eyelash hairs shed at an average rate of 20-30% every two weeks. Since new hairs are always growing in, refills can be performed to the new lashes growing in keeping the lashes looking full continuously.

 

How often will I need to get a refill?
Refills are recommended every 2-3 weeks to keep the lashes looking their best.

 

Can eyelash extensions be applied on anyone?
At the Imagine Nail Salon, you must be 18 years of age or older to get eyelash extensions done. If you do suffer from any of the following conditions please call us to speak with a lash expert before you book your appointment.

• Extremely sensitive eyes or skin

• Eye infection of any kind

• Allergy to cyanoacrylate (this is used in acrylic nails and most adhesives of any kind)

 

Will the eyelash extensions damage my natural hairs?
No, due to our application technique and premium grade products used. For the health of your lashes it is important to ensure that each individual eyelash is isolated when an extension is adhered to it. This allows for each individual hair to continue to grow and shed as they would naturally. We only use medical grade adhesives which are made exclusively for lash extensions. The ingredients are ethyl cyanoacrylate; alkoxy cyanoacrylate; poly (methyl methacrylate) and hydroquinone. The combination of using the proper adhesive along with individual lash attachment will sustain the health and integrity of your natural hairs.

 

What do the lash extensions look like and how do they feel?
Our lash experts will ensure your lashes look and feel natural to you. With Each application our lash experts will evaluate your eye shape, natural lash line and desired look to provide you with the most natural look. We offer two types of looks: “classic eyeliner” and “classic glamour”.
The classic eyeliner (also known as a mascara look) will make your lash line appear darker and the length of each eyelash will appear longer.
The classic glamour look will be a more dramatic look. The lashes will have longer, more curly lashes towards the end of the eyelash for a more glamorous yet still maintaining a natural look.

 

How do the eyelashes get applied?
The process is relaxing, almost like receiving a spa service. You will be greeted by your trained Borboleta eyelash expert and you will be walked into one of  treatment rooms. Here you will discuss the look you are wanting to achieve first. Then you will be asked to lie down on our heated spa table. Your eyes will be closed the entire time and some people have described it as “someone gently combing through your lashes”. The service will last anywhere between 60-120 minutes for a first time guest getting a full set of 100 lashes to each eye. Refills can be done in 30-60 minutes depending on how many lashes need to be attached. The service is quite enjoyable and many guests find themselves falling asleep.

 

How do you take care of the lashes?
It can take up to 6-8 hours for the adhesive to fully cure the bond between your natural lash and the extensions. We ask that you avoid swimming, hot tubs, saunas and tanning on the day of your lash appointment. After the 8 hours, they are able to get wet. While you are sleeping, lashes can tangle. Each morning use a clean mascara brush to comb through the lashes. The overall upkeep is minimal and easy to manage.

Getting ready for your appointment?
Each time you come in for eyelash extensions we ask that you:

• Remove all eye makeup and clean your natural lashes with an oil-free cleanser

• Please remove contact lenses

• Avoid caffeine or other stimulants that may cause your eyes to flutter involuntarily

• Refrain from curling or perming your natural lashes prior to receiving your full set
